What is Chaos?

Sinister – it might sound, but what if a random episode from Netflix Black Mirror becomes a reality! To add to the imagination, think about the human mind working in mysterious ways, paving way for a persona to establish itself over a period of time and then suddenly a trigger – things change. What if the human mind is like a multiverse that lives multiple lives within itself where every life has a different story, every lie has a different truth behind it.
In computer science there’s a popular phrase for GUI (Graphical User Interface) and it is “what you see is what you get”. Now let’s put that phrase in action for the modern society. Friendships, relationships, achievements, accomplishments – everything is surficial. And then to tighten it we have religion. Now what is right and what is wrong, is only defined by the parameters of the modern day society which keeps evolving from time to time. For a hundred years or more, women were subjected to the worser things while men supposedly or allegedly enjoyed it. But if we look at history – a thousand years ago, women were much stronger in the societal structure in various civilisations. Now, the wheel of time is turning and again there’s a wave of gender equality across the planet and we can see positive change.
Now who decides this? Is there a specific culture that defines the world order or is it the ever evolving human mind that tends to find new ways just like the neurons in the brain which look for new connections continuously to create synapses.
Everything that we do in the modern society is just a set of rules that bind us in a pattern. We are meant to believe that to break a commitment is a sin. But if, there’s a multiverse concept to it. Just like Maha Vishnu, which is the multiverse, the human mind is an embodiment of the same universal structure. Then why can’t there be more variations to commitments, human relationships, civic society where rules are not meant for limiting human beings but for freedom where connections are real.
The conservatives might say – rules are created to avoid chaos.
What is chaos? Is it the innumerous sounds that you hear in your head which scream and tell you to listen to your heart or is it the loudspeakers and visual distractions that push you towards age old societal rules and wasted consumerism where you lose yourself completely to the traps set by a few people, a few corporations.
What is chaos? Is it the urge to call for help while in distress or to think of a self-proclaimed image that might tarnish if asked for help. Is it the feeling to love someone by natural instincts or to stop yourself from doing so because breaking a rule is a sin.
What is chaos? When people call you in the name of relationships or commitments only to expect things out of you and all you really have to offer is emptiness but you still pour your blood in a vessel to fill it up.
What is chaos? When your heart pounds harder before failing to the win rabbit race and you are the one labelled as a loser because as per the rules it was your job.
What is chaos? Liabilities or Responsibilities?
Now if there was an option to freedom of choice, freedom to connect, freedom to let go while not breaking rules – what would you call it? Chaos? I would call it coexistence. It is when your mind is active with reason and calmness and you have the power to control your mind to be at multiple places at the same time, while not breaking so called rules that’s when real coexistence can survive. Sounds utopian right? But that almost has been a way of life in ancient times. So what went wrong in the modern era and who fixes it? Is everyone finally happy with “what you see is what you get”? These should be the first questions to ask ourselves in this era of perfectionism and consumerism. So many unspoken and incomplete stories of human emotions – all because of lack of coexistence.
So what is chaos? Think.
